Synopsis
A dignified, autocratic woman living quietly in her London home is gradually surrounded by diabolically clever crooks who ingeniously alienate her family and friends and nearly convince them that she is hopelessly insane. It looks as though the kind lady is doomed to lose her property and her sanity, but a supreme effort of courage and skill conveys the true situation to the outside world in this intensely exciting drama.
Author: Edward Chodorov
Historian’s Corner
For the production of “Kind Lady,” the Players ran an ad in the Pantagraph requesting specifically “Older Men.” A casting party for the show had been held at the workshop, and when there were not enough older men, the casting chairman ran the ad that asked, “if you were over 40, or you are known as what is called an ‘older man’ then the Players is looking for you!” Later an ad was run that noted Lily Weatherley had replaced Opal Wright in the role of Rose. “Kind Lady” is one of the few plays for which a program was either lost or was not saved for the original scrap book.
