The Legacy Award

Inspired by the Broadway Legacy Robe, in our 101st season (2023-2024) Community Players begins a new tradition.

The Community Players Legacy Award is given to the ensemble member in a cast with the most Community Players ensemble credits. Up to six awards can be given each year, with one award per show (unless, of course, there is an exact tie). The show must have an ensemble/chorus for the award to be given for that show. The award is presented on or just before opening night in a small ceremony with the cast.

Ensemble credits are counted by several Board of Governor members, and the winner is identified. The current show counts towards these totals. A role does not have to be labeled directly as "ensemble" or "chorus" to count. For example, several shows are considered entirely ensemble shows, with everyone eligible. Understudies and swings are always eligible, even if they do not appear onstage during a performance.
