Synopsis

A veteran is back at a small midwestern college, living with his wife’s family. The well-meaning mother-in-law mistakenly decides that he is interested in a co-ed with whom he works. Her efforts to save her daughter’s marriage, plus the arrival of eccentric relatives make for further complications. Eventually, the mother discovers that she is wrong. The result of this confusion is that the young people learn an important lesson on how to get along together.

“The Happiest Years” was originally slated to be the the third show of the season, but was moved to the second slot. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Harry Ulbrich stepped into the part of Morton Graves with less than two weeks rehearsal.
